BuySafePay ("we", "our", or "us") operates the student laptop financing platform at buysafepay.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By using BuySafePay, you agree to the terms of this policy.

We collect information you provide directly to us when you apply for financing, including:

• Personal Identifiers: Full name, date of birth, gender, email address, phone number, and residential address.
• Identity Documents: National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), and uploaded documents such as your student ID card and admission letter.
• Academic Information: Institution name, faculty, course of study, level, matric/registration number, and expected graduation year.
• Financial Information: Laptop budget, chosen financing plan, and repayment duration preference.
• Guarantor Details: Your guarantor's name, relationship to you, phone number, email, and address.
• Usage Data: Browser type, IP address, pages visited, and interaction data collected automatically via analytics tools.

We use your information to:

• Process and evaluate your financing application.
• Verify your identity using NIN and BVN through our authorised identity verification partner (Prembly IdentityPass).
• Communicate with you about your application status via SMS and email.
• Contact your guarantor to verify your application details where necessary.
• Comply with applicable Nigerian laws and regulatory requirements.
• Improve our platform, detect fraud, and ensure security.
• Send you service-related notifications (we do not send unsolicited marketing without your consent).

Your NIN and BVN are collected solely to verify your identity and confirm that the name on your government-issued ID matches the name on your application. This verification is performed through a secure third-party API. We do not store your raw NIN or BVN beyond what is necessary to process your application, and we do not sell or share this information with any unauthorised third party.

We may share your information with:

• Identity Verification Partners: Prembly IdentityPass, to verify your NIN/BVN.
• Cloud Storage Providers: For secure document storage (uploaded ID cards, letters).
• Communication Providers: SMS and email services to send application updates.
• Law Enforcement or Regulators: When required by Nigerian law or a valid court order.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We retain your personal information for as long as your application is active and for a period thereafter as required by Nigerian financial regulations (typically 5–7 years). If your application is declined or withdrawn, we will retain your data for a minimum of 12 months for fraud prevention and audit purposes, after which it will be securely deleted or anonymised.

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Under applicable Nigerian data protection regulations (Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and NDPR), you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
